
GWU Grapplers to Compete at the 2012 Southern Scuffle

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb wrestling team will kick off the 2012 calendar year at the 2012 Southern Scuffle hosted by the Chattanooga Mocs on January 1-2 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The Runnin' Bulldogs are coming off a quad match on Sunday, December 18th, in which GWU posted a 1-2 overall record with the lone dual match victory coming over Niagara County Community College.
At the UB Quad Meet, redshirt-senior Michael Slaughter and sophomore Robbie Golde, who both went 2-1 overall on the day, led Gardner-Webb while Ryan Medved, Alex Medved, Justin Guthrie, Julian Ming and Travis Porter all had one win apiece.
GWU will compete in their fifth open tournament on the year in the 2012 Southern Scuffle, as the Runnin' Bulldogs plan to send Slaughter (125), Golde (133), Davante Andujar (141), Ryan Medved (149), Alex Medved (157), Guthrie (165), Jason Porter (184), Travis Porter (197) and Justin Kozera (285) to the two day event.
Last season at the 2010 Southern Scuffle, Ryan Medved, Alex Medved and Travis Porter all recorded multiple wins in their respective weight classes.
