
Korhan Ates Named Big South Men's Tennis Freshman of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Korhan Ates was named the Crons Brand Men's Tennis Freshman of the Week for matches played Feb. 7-13, it was announced today by the League office.
Ates went 2-0 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles to help the Runnin' Bulldogs to their first Conference win. Against Conference-foe Presbyterian College, he and teammate Roman Piftor defeated Ivan Ho and Rafael Berghaus, 8-3 in No. 2 doubles, clinching the doubles point for GWU. He followed that up in No. 2 singles by defeating PC's Andrew Brigham 6-4, 7-6 (4). On Sunday afternoon against Tennessee Tech, Ates defeated No. 17 Ohio Valley Regional singles player, Josh Girling, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
Gardner-Webb (3-5) returns to action this afternoon as they host Lees-McRae at 2:30 PM at the Webb Tennis Complex.
