
Alex Medved Falls in Day Two of 2011 NCAA Championships

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - For the first time since 2007, the Gardner-Webb wrestling team had an individual compete in the second day of the NCAA Division I Wresting Championships, with redshirt-sophomore Alex Medved competing in the second round of the consolation round.
At 157-pounds, Medved faced the #10 seed, Daryl Cocozzo of Rutgers in Friday's morning session. Cocozzo took an early advantage, scoring a taketown and earning near fall points. Medved was unable to make a comeback, suffering a defeat by pinfall at the 2:43 mark in the first period.
Medved finishes the season with a 29-11 overall record.
