Runnin' Bulldogs Blank Aggies, 6-0, Thursday Afternoon

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Runnin' Bulldogs didn't drop a single set Thursday afternoon, as the Gardner-Webb women's tennis team swept North Carolina A&T, 6-0, at the Aggie Tennis Complex.
Gardner-Webb improves its record to 7-3 overall, while N.C. A&T drops to 1-11 for the season.
Action began with singles play, where the duo of Ioana Oprea and Jenny Lunde defeated Azeib Nigatu and Cayla Cross (8-2) at the No. 1 position, and the team of Laura Kriett and Rita Gouveia downed Victorea Austin and Kimberly Stalling (8-1) at the No. 2 position to give GWU the doubles point.
Gardner-Webb breezed through singles play, earning wins in all 5 matches played in straight sets. At the No. 1 position, Ioana Oprea downed Cayla Cross (6-1, 6-0), and Laura Kriett defeated Azeib Nigatu (6-1, 6-1) at the No. 2 position. Jenny Lunde defeated Victorea Austin (6-2, 6-2) at the No. 3 position, while Rita Gouveia blanked Kimberly Stalling (6-0, 6-0) at the No. 4 position. Tavenner Black wrapped up the shutout, defeating Chloe McSwain (6-1, 6-1) at the No. 5 position. No match was played at the No.6 position as it would have no effect on the overall match outcome.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will now set their sights on Pfeiffer this Saturday afternoon, with the match taking place at the Webb Tennis Complex at 12:00 PM.
