GWU Men's Tennis Falls to Wofford, 4-3, Wednesday Afternoon

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Wednesday's match with nearby Wofford College went down to the final singles match, yet the Gardner-Webb men's tennis team fell to the Terriers by a 4-3 score at the Reeves Tennis Center.
Gardner-Webb fell to 5-7 while Wofford improved to 4-5 for the season.
Action began with doubles play, where the Runnin' Bulldogs took the early 1-0 advantage following Andrew Veeder and Andrew Carter teaming to defeat Stuart Robertson and Tinus Van Wyk (8-5) at the No. 1 position and Korhan Ates and Adam Knutsson-Sundblad defeating Jack Seiffert and Drew Superstein (9-8) at the No. 3 position.
In singles action, Julien Belair was victorious at the No. 1 position, downing Tinus Van Wyk,(2-6, 6-3, 6-2), and Roman Piftor earned a win at the No. 5 position, defeating Drew Superstein (6-1, 6-7, 7-5). However, Wofford won the remaining four singles matches to claim the overall victory.
Wednesday's match was originally scheduled to take place on February 8th, but was postponed due to weather.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will next be in action this Saturday as they host Longwood at 10:00 AM and Mars Hill at 4:00 PM in doubleheader action at the Webb Tennis Complex.
