GWU Women's Tennis Sweeps UNC Asheville, 7-0, Wednesday Afternoon

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team took all singles and doubles matches to earn a 7-0 victory over fellow Big South Conference member UNC Asheville on a windy Wednesday afternoon at the Webb Tennis Complex.
Gardner-Webb improves to 9-3 overall, 2-2 in Big South play, while UNC Asheville falls to 6-8 overall, 0-2 in Big South play.
Action kicked off with doubles play, where the Runnin' Bulldogs took all three matches to seize the doubles point.
GWU didn't let the breezy conditions affect their play in singles action, taking all six matches to seal the overall victory. The overall win was sealed at the No. 2 position when junior Ioana Oprea downed Stephanie Schon (6-4, 6-2) in straight sets.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will next be in action this Saturday afternoon, hosting Liberty at 1:00 PM at the Webb Tennis Complex.
