
GWU Earns No. 5 Seed for Big South Women's Tennis Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The seedings for the upcoming Big South Women's Tennis Championships were announced today by the Big South Conference offices, with the Gardner-Webb women's tennis team earning the No. 5 seed.
The Runnin' Bulldogs finished the 2011 season with a 3-4 record in Big South play, which put them in fifth place in the standings. Winthrop, Coastal Carolina, and Liberty each finished with 6-1 records, with Winthrop receiving the No. 1 seed via tie-breakers.
GWU will face No. 4 Charleston Southern in the opening match of the Championships at 9:00 AM. The Buccaneers finished with a 4-3 record in Big South play. When the two teams met in the regular season, CSU edged out a 4-3 win.
The 2011 Big South Women's Tennis Championship begins Thursday, April 21st with three matches, and concludes with the Championship game on Saturday, April 23rd in Rock Hill, S.C. The Big South's tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
