Runnin' Bulldogs Shoot A Combined Three Under Par to Move Up to Second-Place at the 2011 Big South Men's Golf Championship

Ninety-Six, S.C.- The Gardner-Webb men's golf team shot a stellar combined second round team score of 285, -3, to jump from fifth-place all the way to second-place in the team standings with a combined two-round team score of 584, +8, after day two of the 2011 Big South Men's Golf Championship hosted by Radford University at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety-Six, S.C.
The Runnin' Bulldogs 285, -3, pushed them past Coastal Carolina, Winthrop and Radford and was the second lowest team score of the day behind Liberty's 277, -11. Gardner-Webb (584, +8) is 17 strokes behind first-place Liberty (567, -9) and five strokes ahead of Radford (589, +13) who is in third-place overall.
Redshirt-junior J.J. Regan followed up his first round 72, even par, on Monday with a second round 68, -4, on Tuesday to lead the Runnin' Bulldogs. Regan posted six birdies, four of which came on the front nine, compared to only two bogies to move from sixth-place into a tie for second-place overall with a combined two-round score of 140, -4, heading into the third and final day of play tomorrow.
GWU's Daniel Kim, which also carded a 72, even par, yesterday, turned in a second round 70, -2, on Tuesday to move into fourth-place overall with a combined two-day score of 142, -2. Kim, who had three birdies on Monday, recorded four birdies on Tuesday and shot a 33, -3, on the front nine.
Junior Kristopher Gray posted a second round 74, +2, to finish day two with a combined score of 151, +7, good enough for 19th-place overall, while senior Scott Wheeler improved six strokes on Tuesday, shooting a 73, +1, over the second round, which included four birdies, to move into a tie at 20th-place with a combined two-day score of 152, +8.
Rounding out the scoring for Gardner-Webb on Tuesday was freshman Steven Jones who carded a second round 85, +13, to fall into a tie at 39th-place overall with a two-round combined score of 163, +19, heading into the final round on Wednesday.
The third and final round of the 2011 Big South Men's Golf Championship is slated to begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety-Six, S.C.
