GWU Women's Tennis Falls 7-0 At Winthrop

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team fell to Winthrop by a 7-0 score Thursday afternoon at Memorial Courts in Rock Hill, S.C.
The Runnin' Bulldogs fall to 9-6 overall, 2-4 in Big South Conference action, while the Eagles improve to 14-11 overall, 5-1 in league play.
Action began with doubles play, where Winthrop took all three matches to take the early 1-0 advantage.
The Eagles swept through singles play to take the 7-0 overall win. At the No. 1 position, sophomore Erica White won the second set, yet dropped the third to Yasmine Alkema (6-1, 2-6, 6-0). In 2010, both White and Alkema shared the Big South Freshman of the Year honors.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will next be in action this Sunday afternoon as they travel to face Radford. The match is set for a 1:00 PM start time.
