
Rucker's School Record in 110 Hurdles Leads GWU at the Clemson Tiger Final Qualifier

Clemson, S.C. - Senior Johnathan Rucker set a Gardner-Webb school record in the men's 110 meter hurdles on Saturday to lead the Runnin' Bulldogs at the Clemson Tiger Final Qualifier this weekend hosted by Clemson University.
Despite a break in the action for over an hour on Saturday due to a passing thunderstorm, Rucker picked up an 11th-place finish in the men's 110 meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in a new school record time of 14.39, one-tenth of a second faster than his previous school record of 14.40.
Fellow senior Evan Brusich crossed the finish line in 21st-place in the men's 110 meter hurdles with his time of 15.10, while in the men's 100 meter run, sophomore Bo Miller set a new personal best record time of 10.76, placing him in 19th-place overall.
In the men's 800 meter unseeded run, sophomore Josiah Stanton-Brooks finished with a time of 1:52.36, good enough for 13th-place overall, while in the field events, freshman Carson Sears recorded a seventh-place finish with a personal best mark of 57.76 meters (189'6") in the men's hammer throw and junior Travis Rogers placed 10th in the men's shot put with a mark of 14.78 meters (48'6").
On the women's side of events, junior Caroline Arledge posted a fifth-place finish in the women's javelin throw event with a new personal best mark of 38.55 meters (126'6"), while fellow classmate Sarah Herd also recorded a fifth-place finish, tying a personal best mark of 1.61 meters (5'3.25") in the women's high jump.
In the women's pole vault event, Ann Marie Howell turned in a mark of 3.70 meters (12'1.50") to place her in seventh overall, just ahead of senior Carrie Long who placed eighth with her mark of 3.50 meters (11'5.75").
Sophomore Ivana Hughes turned in two strong performances over the weekend, as she recorded an eighth-place finish in the women's 800 meter seeded run with a time of 2:15.66 and an 11th-place finish in the women's 400 meter dash with a new personal best time of 56.55.
The official list of declarations and accepted entries for the NCAA East Preliminary Round will be announced Monday, May 23, three days prior to the start of the meet in Bloomington, IN.
