
GWU Runnin' Bulldogs Compete at Billy Hayes Invitational

Bloomington, Indiana - The Gardner-Webb men's and women's outdoor track & field team had eight individuals compete at the Billy Hayes Invitational on Friday, May 6th, hosted by Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
Highlighting the men's side was redshirt-senior Christoph Hutschalik, who picked up a fifth-place finish in the men's hammer throw event with a mark of 59.12 meters (193'11"), while fellow throw Carson Sears earned a seventh-place finish with his distance of 57.21 meters (187'8").
Junior Travis Rogers picked up a 13th-place finish in the men's shot put event, posting a mark of 14.45 meters (47'5").
In the hurdles events, senior Johnathan Rucker picked up a 14th-place finish in the 110 meter hurdles with his time of 15.01, while in the 400 meter hurdles event freshman sprinter Johnathan Parks recorded a time of 56.77, good enough for 14th-place overall.
On the women's side, sophomore thrower Ashlei Alexander posted a 10th-place finish in the shot put event with a toss of 13.52 meters (44'4.25"), while in the women's pole vault event both Ann Marie Howell and Carrie Long finished tied for 12th with a height of 3.55 meters (11'7.75").
Gardner-Webb will have a number of student-athletes compete at the Deacon Combined Events on May 10-11th in Winston-Salem, N.C. and then again at the Clemson Tiger Qualifier Events on May 13-15th in Clemson, S.C.
