GWU's Ryan Bell Leads After Round One at the 51st North Carolina Amateur Championship

Greensboro, N.C. - Gardner-Webb graduate and current assistant golf coach Ryan Bell carded a 64, -8 under par, to take the lead after round one of the 51st North Carolina Amateur Championship at the Greensboro Country Club's Farm Course in Greensboro, N.C. on Thursday.
Bell carded a 30, -6 under par, on the front nine and a 34, -2 under par, on the back nine despite shooting two bogies for the round.
The Charlotte, N.C. native is two strokes ahead of three other players heading into play on Friday.
Also competing in the North Carolina amateur event is Gardner-Webb signee Matt Everton, who fired a first round 72, even par, to find himself in a tie for 40th-place overall.
The tournament field will be cut the low 60 and ties after Friday afternoon's play.
