
GWU's Allum Finishes Tied for Seventh at the Ontario Women's Amateur Championship

Ontario, Canada - Gardner-Webb's Meghan Allum carded a third round 76, +5, on Thursday to finish in a tie for seventh-place overall at the Investors Group Ontario Women's Amateur Championship hosted at the Cutten Fields Golf Course in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
Allum finished the three-day tournament with a combined score of 219, +6, to finish six strokes behind the tournament champion Augusta James, who carded a final score of 213, even par.
On Thursday, Allum finished with two birdies, one on a par-5 on the fourth hole and another on a par-4 on hole 10 to start the back nine. For the tournament, Allum turned in eight birdies and 34 pars, including shooting an average of -1 under par on par-5 holes.
First contested in 1904, The Investors Group Ontario Women's Amateur Championship is being played for the 96th time this summer. Open to female golfers with a valid GAO handicap of 12.0 or less, the event features Ontario's best amateur golfers competing in 54-holes of stroke-play competition. Notable past champions include 1968 LPGA Championship winner Sandra Post (1964), LPGA player Alena Sharp (1989), Canadian Golf Hall of Fame member Mary Ann Hayward ('83, '90, '95-'97) and Marlene Stewart Streit, who holds the record for the most Ontario Women's Amateur Championships with 11 ('51, '56, '57, '58, '68, '69, '70, '72, '74, '76, '77).
