When I
heard our team was taking a trip to the Bahamas and staying at one
of the nicest hotels in the world, I knew it was a once in a
lifetime opportunity. One of my first priorities was to do as much
as I could around the hotel and take as much in as possible because
it is such a massive resort with so much to offer.
We
arrived Friday afternoon and as soon as we threw our bags in our
rooms, some teammates and I went to the beach and went snorkeling
in the crystal-clear water. The Atlantis has state of the art water
facilities and all of the guys had a great time riding the unique
slides such as the leap of faith, which is an intimidating 60-foot
drop down a tunnel into a pool that lasts about two seconds. The
weather has been great and its been awesome to experience
everything this resort has to offer while bonding and spending time
with each other.
Sunday
afternoon we had the opportunity to do something different that
many of us had never done and weren't quite sure what to expect. We
visited an orphanage and spent time playing and hanging out with
Bahamian children for a good portion of our afternoon. This was a
very sincere and humbling experience for us to participate in and
really put things in perspective for us as basketball players and
human beings. The kids loved getting to spend time with some
college basketball players. They had great attitudes and it was a
special experience for us to be able to partake in.
