Runnin' Bulldogs Defeat Pfeiffer 2-0 in Exhibition Play

Boiling Springs, N.C. - Gardner-Webb scored one goal in each half to down the Pfeiffer Lady Falcons Thursday night in an exhibition match up at GWU's Greene-Harbison Field.
The Runnin' Bulldogs controlled the ball throughout, outshooting the Lady Falcons 8-1 in each half.
GWU senior Stephanie Benshoof put the Runnin' Bulldogs on top 1-0 in the 42nd minute, capitalizing on a Pfeiffer foul to put a free kick by the Lady Falcons' keeper from the top of the 18-yard box for the goal.
GWU continued to keep the pressure on Pfeiffer's defense in the second half.
Runnin' Bulldog sophomore Meagan Reynolds took a pass from teammate Megan Loftin and fired in goal number two in the 80th minute, giving GWU a needed insurance goal to secure the 2-0 shutout win.
GWU sophomore Erika Lenns played all 90 minutes in goal for Gardner-Webb, fending off two shots to earn the shutout.
Gardner-Webb recorded six corner kicks to Pfeiffer's zero for the match.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will open their regular season schedule on Sunday nigh, August 21, at 7:00 pm, hosting USC Upstate at Greene-Harbison Field in Boiling Springs, N.C.
