Newton, Iowa - Gardner-Webb redshirt-junior Alex Medved received preseason recognition this week,
as he was ranked in the top-20 for his weight class by Wrestling
Insider Newsmagazine's 2011-12 Preseason Tournament Power Index
rankings released on September 14th.
Medved, who was one of four 2011 NCAA National Qualifiers for
Gardner-Webb last year, was ranked 18th overall in the 157-pound
weight class in the WIN's Preseason TPI rankings.
Last season, Medved led the Runnin' Bulldogs with 29 wins, 18 of
which came in dual match action. Medved, who was tied for the team
lead in pin fall victories with five, also led GWU with eight major
decision wins.
The Gardner-Webb wrestling team will open up its 2011-12 season
at home, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will host Belmont Abbey on
Wednesday, November 2nd at 7 p.m.
