
GWU's John Sargent Tabbed the Big South Co-Attacking Player of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb midfielder John Sargent and Liberty midfielder Phillip Aseweh have been tabbed the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Co-Attacking Players of the Week for matches played Sept. 12-18, the League announced today.
Sargent, a junior from Essex, England, posted two game-winning goals in Gardner-Webb's two wins last week, including a win over No. 20 Virginia Commonwealth on September 18th. The midfielder collected a Marius Hammersmark corner and found the back of the net from 25-yards out in the 39th minute to lift the Runnin' Bulldogs to the 1-0 win. His first goal of the week came on a free kick from 30-yards out in the 89th minute to finish off Gardner-Webb's 2-1 come from behind win over UW-Milwaukee on September 16th. Sargent was named to the UAB "Soccer for A Cure" Classic All-Tournament Team for his play in the two-game span.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will return to action this Friday night, as GWU will open up Big South Conference play at Coastal Carolina at 6 p.m. in Conway, S.C. Gardner-Webb will then turn around to face off with UNC Greensboro on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in Greensboro, N.C.
