Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb volleyball team will continue its tough schedule with three road matches this week over a five-day span, including two Big South road contests over the weekend at Radford and at Liberty.
The Runnin' Bulldogs are coming off a heart-breaking five set loss on Friday night to the Asheville Bulldogs in the two teams' Big South Conference opener. After taking the first two sets at 25-12 each, the Runnin' Bulldogs struggled to put the match away and dropped the next three sets to lose the match 3-2.
Prior to Friday night's loss, Gardner-Webb had posted back-to-back three set wins over Wofford and at home against Western Carolina in dominating fashion.
GWU, who is 4-10 overall, will be searching for its first true road win of the season, having gone 0-4 thus far this year.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will tip-off play this week with a non-conference match up with USC Upstate on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Spartanburg, S.C.
Gardner-Webb is 3-1 versus the Spartans since 2000 and defeated USC Upstate 3-1 last season at home in the two teams' last meeting.
