GWU to Host Under Armour Border Classic Sep. 9-11

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Runnin' Bulldogs women's soccer team will host the Border Classic, presented by Gardner-Webb University and Under Armour, Friday Sep.9 thru Sunday Sep. 11.
GWU and Boiling Springs welcomes Stetson (DeLand, FL), Chattanooga (Chattanooga, TN), and Jacksonville St. (Jacksonville, AL) to the Border Classic this season for a weekend packed with women's soccer action.
Gardner-Webb (1-1-2) faces its third Ohio Valley Conference foe of the 2011 season when it takes on the Jacksonville St. Gamecocks (0-6-0) Friday at 7 p.m. The Runnin' Bulldogs turn around on Sunday at 2 p.m. to play the Stetson Hatters (1-4-0) of the Atlantic Sun Conference in a rematch of former A-Sun foes.
Stetson and Chattanooga will kick off the action Friday at 4 p.m. immediately preceding GWU's game vs. JSU. Chattanooga will face JSU Sunday at noon, followed by GWU-Stetson at 2 p.m., the final game of the Classic.
The Runnin' Bulldogs are coming off a three game road stint and have not played a game at home since its season opener on Aug. 21, a 3-0 victory over USC Upstate. GWU has gone winless in its three games away from home, but is coming off a gritty effort in a 1-1 tie of Eastern Kentucky on the road. GWU freshman Megan Curan supplied a key second half goal in that game, and will aim for more of the same this weekend at home.
GWU will look to defend its home turf at Greene-Harbison Field in its tournament matches this weekend and bolster its season record early in the 2011 season.
