
GWU Women and Men Both Fall vs. High Point in Dual Play

Ninety Six, S.C. - Gardner-Webb freshman Mary Katherine Donovan and senior Daniel Kim paced the Runnin' Bulldog golf teams on Saturday, as both the women's team and the men's team fell to the Panthers at the annual GWU vs. High Point Duals held at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, S.C.
The women's team, which included the top-four performers in terms of the lowest scores of the designated five players, posted a combined team score of 319, +31, to fall to the High Point women's team, who carded a 317, +29, by two strokes.
Donovan finished first among the ladies, as the freshman carded a 76, +4, to finish one stroke ahead of High Point's Tan Cheeranont and her score of 77, +5.
GWU senior Lauren Smith finished fourth overall, with her 79, +7, while fellow seniors Hannah Hellyer and Meghan Allum rounded out the scoring for the Runnin' Bulldogs with their respective rounds of 81, +9, and 83, +11.
On the men's side, Kim carded a 74, +2, to finish third overall among the 14 male competitors, however, the High Point Panthers defeated the Runnin' Bulldogs 296, +8, to 304, +16.
Behind Kim's 74, sophomore Matt Yelverton posted a 76, +4, while redshirt-junior Daley Byles turned in a round of 78, +6.
Wrapping up the scoring for the men's team was freshman Clement Kurniawan who carded an 81, +9, for the day.
Both the women's team and the men's team will return to action this Monday and Tuesday, October 22-23, as the ladies will compete at the Fighting Camel Classic in Buies Creek, N.C. and the men will take part of the Pinetree Intercollegiate in Kennesaw, Ga.
