GWU Softball Named as a 2011-12 NFCA Division I All-Academic Team

Louisville, Ky. - The Gardner-Webb softball team was recognized for its hard work in the classroom last year, as the Runnin' Bulldogs were named as a 2011-12 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-Academic Team today by the NFCA.
The Runnin' Bulldogs, who posted a 3.071 team grade point average for the 2011-12 academic year, was one of 91 Division I softball programs to receive the all-academic team honor.
Last season, senior Jane Savage, who was named to the Big South Softball All-Academic Team for the second straight year, was also named the 2012 Big South Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the Big South Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was one of four recipients for the Big South Conference's 2012 George A. Christenberry Award.
All 12 of Head Coach Tom Cole's teams' have recorded a GPA of at least 3.0 since his arrival at GWU.
