Runnin' Bulldogs Host Lipscomb Wednesday Night At 6:00 PM
November 13, 2012 | Men's Basketball
The Runnin' Bulldogs (1-1) and Bison (1-1) have played 12 times over the years, with each team winning six of those meetings. Gardner-Webb traveled to Nashville last November and came away with a gritty, 74-71 road win in the season's second game.
Wednesday night's game mark's Lipscomb's first visit to Paul Porter Arena since Gardner-Webb left the Atlantic Sun Conference after the 2007-2008 season. GWU took an 81-73 win over the Bison in the two teams' last meeting in Boiling Springs (January 5, 2008), with current assistant coach Takayo Siddle coming off the bench to score a team-high 16 points and dish off four assists.
Siddle's effort paced five players in double figures, as Gardner-Webb made 10-of-25 shots from long distance in the victory.
This Wednesday, Gardner-Webb will look to build on momentum of a solid early start to the season. GWU looked solid in its debut at No. 11 North Carolina, trailing by only nine with less than five minutes to play in Chapel Hill - and returned home to rout Covenant (Ga.), 77-39, despite tired legs in Paul Porter arena the following night.
Wednesday night's game will air live on WGWG-FM (88.3 / wgwg.org), with Fabian Fuentes - the Voice of the Runnin' Bulldogs - providing the call. The game will also be broadcast via video stream on the Big South Network.
Gardner-Webb will catch a Thursday morning flight to Chicago to play at DePaul the following night (11/15) at 8:30 pm. GWU will then remain in the midwest to take on Iowa at 8:00 pm on Saturday night (11/17).
