GWU's Curan Earns a Spot on the 2012 Big South All-Academic Team

Rock Hill, S.C. - The Runnin' Bulldogs women's soccer team was honored at the Big South's Annual Awards ceremony on Thursday, as Gardner-Webb sophomore midfielder Megan Curan was named to the 2012 Big South All-Academic Team, the League announced today.
Curan (Mooresville, N.C.) started each match this season for the Runnin' Bulldogs, putting in valuable minutes throughout the 2012 season. The versatile midfielder was solid all year in helping Gardner-Webb improve on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, and played a huge role in GWU's 1-0 home win over conference foe Coastal Carolina.
During her freshman campaign in 2011, Curan, who is majoring in Exercise Science, led all returners with five goals and four assists.
The hard-working sophomore was joined on the All-Academic Team by Campbell's Cissy Nitz, Charleston Southern's Allison Lewis, Coastal Carolina's Anna Lowe, High Point's Janay Whittaker, Liberty's Karen Blocker, Longwood's Lindsey Ottavio, Presbyterian's Emily Boggus, Radford's Megan Rhodes, UNC Asheville's Heather Muller, VMI's Simone Jimenez, and Winthrop's Allie AndeWater.
