Golde, Porter and Ryan Medved Record Pins as GWU Downs Belmont Abbey, 35-8

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb wrestling team picked up falls by Robbie Golde, Ryan Medved and Travis Porter in their respective weight classes en route to a 35-8 dual match victory over the Belmont Abbey Crusaders on Monday night in Paul Porter Arena.
After Belmont Abbey opened the dual up with an 11-3 major decision win by Patrick Mestrez at 125 pounds, Golde got the Runnin' Bulldogs on the scoreboard, as the redshirt-sophomore earned a fall of Jake Nelson at 5:33 in the third period at 133 pounds to put GWU in front in the match 6-4.
Golde's pin set the tone for the rest of the match, as sophomore Davante Andujar followed up with a 10-3 win at 141 pounds over Markus Almeida and Ryan Medved earned a second period fall over Dylan Moses at 149 pounds at 2:29 to put the home team on top 15-4 for the match.
At 157 pounds, Alex Medved dominated the match from start to finish, totaling 20 points overall in a 20-5 technical fall victory over Daniel Callahan with 5:55 on the clock.
With a 20-4 match lead, GWU's Justin Guthrie took advantage of his riding time to earn a 7-6 decision over Brandon Wilkins at 165 pounds and push the Runnin' Bulldog grapplers in front by 19 at 23-4.
After a second major decision loss at 174 pounds, GWU freshman Gray Jones got the Runnin' Bulldogs back on the winning track with a 3-1 decision at 184 pounds.
Redshirt-senior Blake Salyer followed with a 9-4 win over Jake Lamer at 197 pounds, while Porter ended the dual with a fall at 4:13 over Kelly Baker at the heavyweight position to give the Runnin' Bulldogs a 35-8 match win.
Gardner-Webb (2-1) will return to action after the Thanksgiving break, as the Runnin' Bulldog grapplers will compete at the Hoosier Duals hosted by Indiana University on December 1st in Bloomington, Indiana. In the duals, the Runnin' Bulldogs will take on Indiana, Southern Illinois - Edwardsville and Bucknell.
