No. 7 Gardner-Webb Set for Quarterfinals Match Up at No. 2 Radford Tuesday Night

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team will hit the road to take on the No. 2 seeded Radford Highlanders on Tuesday night, November 6th, at 6 p.m. at Radford, Va. for the quarterfinals of the 2012 Big South Men's Soccer Championship Tournament.
Gardner-Webb (4-13-2, 3-5-2 Big South), who earned the No. 7 seed, is entering its fifth straight Big South Conference Tournament. (2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008) and is looking to return to the Championship match where the Runnin' Bulldogs lost last season to No. 4 Liberty, 3-1.
The Runnin' Bulldogs are 2-3-2 all-time in the Big South Championship postseason event, including having posted a 2-1-1 record overall in the quarterfinals round of the annual tournament.
GWU, who has never played Radford in the Big South Men' Soccer Championship Tournament, has not been knocked out in the first round of the Big South Championship since 2009, when Winthrop advanced past the Runnin' Bulldogs in a penalty kick shootout.
However, the task will not be easy for the Runnin' Bulldogs, as No. 2 Radford (9-5-4, 7-2-1 Big South) defeated Gardner-Webb in the two teams' regular season match up 6-1 back on September 29th in Boiling Springs, N.C.
The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team struggled on both ends of the field in the previous meeting and was out shot 21-6 for the match, as the Highlanders put 12 shots on frame compared to GWU's four.
GWU, who is 5-3-1 all-time versus Radford on the pitch is 3-1-1 against the Highlanders since joining the Big South Conference in 2008 and 1-1-1 overall in contests played at Radford in men's soccer action.
