BOILING SPRINGS - The threat of wet weather has forced Gardner-Webb to open its season with a doubleheader on Friday against Maryland-Eastern Shore, with the first game set for 3:00 pm at Bill Masters Field/John Henry Moss Stadium.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (34-23-1 in 2011) and Hawks will play the second game of the scheduled three-game series Friday night. The third and final game of the series will be played as weather permits, with tentative plans for Saturday afternoon. A start time will be determined following Friday's doubleheader.
