
Senior Kristopher Gray Leads Men's Golf Team to a Sixth-Place Finish at the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. - Gardner-Webb senior Kristopher Gray finished in a three-way tie at eighth-place overall, as the men's golf team finished in a tie at sixth-place overall in the team standings at the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational hosted by Wofford College at The Country Club of Spartanburg, a par-72, 6,648-yard course in Spartanburg, S.C.
The Runnin' Bulldogs carded team rounds of 285, 290 and 296 to finish in a tie at sixth-place overall at 871, +7, with the Richmond Spiders.
Gray paced the Runnin' Bulldogs, as the senior carded rounds of 70, 72 and 71 to finish three under par at 213. Gray, who finished tied for eighth, recorded a tournament high 41 pars over the three-round tournament.
Junior Daniel Kim posted rounds of 74, 69 and 71 to turn in a combined three-round score of 214, -2 under par, placing him in a tie at 11th-place overall. Kim, who posted an even 3.00 par 3 scoring average over the two-day event, totaled 35 pars for the event.
Redshirt-sophomore Daley Byles turned in a GWU low round 69 for round one on Monday and followed up with rounds of 78 and 74 to finish the two-day event with a combined score of 221, +5, good enough to finish in a tie at 37th-place.
Freshman Matt Yelverton and redshirt-senior J.J. Regan rounded out the scoring for the Runnin' Bulldogs, as the two posted three-round combined scores of 228, +12, to both finish in a six-way tie at 71st-place.
GWU finished 30 strokes behind the winner Charleston Southern, who carded a team score of 841, -23, a new 54-hole team record.
East Tennessee State took second-place with a team score of 851, -13, while Campbell placed third with a combined three round team score of 861, -3.
Gardner-Webb will now set their sights on the 2012 Big South Men's Golf Championship hosted by Winthrop University at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor in Ninety Six, S.C.
