
Runnin' Bulldogs Maintain Third-Place Team Standing After Day Two of the 2012 Big South Women's Golf Championship

Ninety Six, S.C. - Gardner-Webb dropped three strokes of their combined team score from Monday on Tuesday, carding a team round of 304 to maintain their hold on third-place overall, eight strokes ahead of the next competitor after day two of the 2012 Big South Women's Golf Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, S.C.
Gardner-Webb's team score after two rounds is 611, +35, putting the Runnin' Bulldogs 16 shots behind second-place Coastal Carolina (595, +19) and 17 strokes behind team leader Campbell (594, +18).
The women's golf team is eight strokes ahead of Winthrop, who is fourth-place overall at 619, +43.
Junior Hannah Hellyer led the Runnin' Bulldogs with a low round 74, +2, on Tuesday, putting her in a tie for seventh-place overall with a two-day combined score of 151, +7.
Fellow classmate Sammy Vass turned in a second round 77, +5, on Tuesday afternoon, giving her a two-day score of 153, +9, placing her in a tie for ninth-place overall, one stroke ahead of fellow teammate Meghan Allum who carded a second round 78, +6, on top of her 76 from Monday to sit in a tie for 14th-place overall.
GWU's Lauren Smith bounced back from a first round 81, +9, yesterday with a 75, +3, on Tuesday to move up into a tie at 20th-place overall with her two-day and two-round combined score of 156, +12.
Rounding out the field for the Runnin' Bulldogs is senior Courtney Finocchiaro, as the All-Academic Team member carded a second round 81, +9, heading into day three on Wednesday with a score at 159, +15, and in a tie for 29th-place.
Gardner-Webb will tee off at 9:15 a.m. on the final day off competition.
