
Nine GWU Track & Field Athletes Compete at Clemson Tiger Qualifier

Clemson, S.C. - Sarah Herd won the Women's High Jump, and Josiah Stanton-Brooks established a new personal best in the Men's 800 m Run, as Gardner-Webb track & field competed at the Clemson Tiger Qualifier Friday and Saturday.
On the women's side, Herd (Cherryville, N.C.) matched her personal best performance in the High Jump, earning 1st place honors with a height of 1.70 m.
Senior Katy Milton (Monroe, N.C.) was 5th fastest in the Women's 200 m Dash, posting a time of 26.02 in the event.
Ivana Hughes (Evans, Ga.) raced to a 2nd place finish in the 800 m Run. The junior finished in 2:12.83 in the event.
In the 1500 m Run, junior Ariel Zimmerman (Williamsburg, Va.) took 13th in 5:01.40.
Senior Elisabeth Sawyer (Charlotte, N.C.) posted the top time in her premier event, the 3000 m Steeplechase. Her 1st place finish came in a time of 11:46.67.
Two GWU athletes competed in the Pole Vault at the Clemson Tiger Qualifier. Senior Ann Marie Howell (Mooreville, Miss.) was 7th at 3.57 m and junior Bethany Wright (Clayton, Ga.) took 9th with a height of 3.42 m.
Grabbing 5th place in the Women's Shot Put was junior Ashlei Alexander (Queens, N.Y.). Alexander threw a distance of 13.45 m in the event.
For Gardner-Webb's men's track & field squad, Stanton-Brooks (Seattle, Wash.) put up a personal best time in the Men's 800 m Run. The junior finished in 1:51.94, good enough for 4th in the event.
