September 12, 2012 | Men's Soccer
Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team will hit the road for two road contests this weekend, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will take on Dayton and Cincinnati in non-conference action.
Gardner-Webb (0-4), who has not played since September 2nd, will look to pick up its first win of the season on the road in Ohio. The Runnin' Bulldogs, who spent its week off from competition regrouping and recovering from a number of injuries will look to find its offense, as GWU has totaled only one goal thus far this season.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will match up with the Dayton Flyers for the first time ever on Friday night at 5:30 p.m.
The Flyers are 4-1 thus far this season and have posted wins over Ohio State, Kentucky, nationally ranked Furman and Eastern Illinois. In fact, all four of the Flyers wins have come at home this season.
Dayton, who received votes in both the NSCAA/Top Drawer Soccer Top-25 poll and the College Soccer News Top-30 poll this week, have outscored their opponents 14-9 thus far this season.
Gardner-Webb will then return to the pitch on Sunday afternoon, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will take on the Cincinnati Bearcats at 1 p.m.
The Bearcats are 1-4-1 thus far this season and enter play this week having dropped four of their last five contests. Cincinnati, who will host Towson on Friday night, has gone winless over their last five matches after picking up a season-opening 1-0 win over Drake on August 24th.
Live stats and live video, for a minimal feel, will be available for both contests. For Friday night's match, live stats and a live video link will be available at www.daytonflyers.com, while on Sunday afternoon, links to both media outlets will be available at www.gobearcats.com.
