GWU's Dodson Posts Second Straight Top-Five Finish, as the Runnin' Bulldogs Finish 12th at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic

Greensboro, N.C. - Freshman Taylor Dodson posted her second straight top-five finish, as she led the Gardner-Webb women's golf team to a 12th-place finish at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic hosted by UNC Greensboro at the par 71, 6,265-yards Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro N.C.
Gardner-Webb carded team rounds of 311, 307 and 309 to finish the two-day, three-round event in 12th-place overall in the team standings with a combined team score of 927, +75.
For the second straight tournament, Dodson led the Runnin' Bulldogs with a top-five finish, as the freshman from Aiken, S.C. carded rounds of 74, 70 and 72 to finish with a combined score of 216, +3, which placed her in fourth-place overall. Dodson, who posted a team-best par-5 scoring average of 4.67, -3 under par, led the entire tournament field with 41 pars over the three rounds of play.
Fellow freshman Sarah Bertram bounced back from a first round 85, +14, on Monday morning to shoot a second round 75, +4, and a third round 76, +5, to finish in a tie at 53rd-place overall with her combined 54-hole score of 236, +23.
Behind Bertram was sophomore Mary Katherine Donovan who carded a first round 72, +1, but turned in rounds of 81, +10, and 85, +14, over the final two rounds of play to finish in a tie at 59th-place overall with her combined score of 238, +25. Donovan posted a team-best seven birdies over the 54-hole event.
Rounding out the scoring for the Runnin' Bulldogs was freshman Julia Henderson and senior Pilar Morgan. Henderson posted a 54-hole score of 243, +30, to finish in a tie for 73rd overall, while Morgan shot a combined two-day score of 248, +35, to place in a tie at 78th-place overall.
Chattanooga took first-place overall in the team standings with a team score of 876, +24, placing two strokes ahead of second-place finisher Campbell who turned in a team score of 878, +26. Maryland (994, +32), Western Carolina (898, +46) and High Point (900, +48) finished out the top-five.
The Mocs' Agathe Sauzon took home top individual honors, as she carded rounds of 70, 71 and 69 to finish with a tournament low 54-hole score of 210, -3 under par.
Gardner-Webb will next be in action this Saturday, October 5th, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will take part in The Patriot Intercollegiate, hosted by GWU, at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor in Ninety Six, S.C.
