
Gardner-Webb Women's Golf to Compete at the Fighting Camel Fall Classic This Week

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team will return to the links for competition this week, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will take part in the Fighting Camel Fall Classic Intercollegiate hosted by Campbell University on Monday and Tuesday, October 21-22, in Buies Creek, N.C.
The two-day, 54-hole event will be held at the Keith Hills Country Club par 72, 6,026 yards Orange & Black Courses with 36 holes scheduled for Monday and the final 18 holes of play slated for Tuesday.
The tournament field will consist of teams from all around the country in Campbell, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Iowa, Longwood, Mercer, Nova Southeastern, Old Dominion, Richmond, Western Carolina and Winthrop.
Head Coach Tee Burton's lineup will be a familiar one for the Runnin' Bulldogs in Taylor Dodson, Pilar Morgan, Sarah Bertram, Julia Henderson and Mary Katherine Donovan as all five have played in multiple events so far this fall season.
Dodson will be teeing-off for Gardner-Webb in her fifth straight event so far this season, as the freshman is coming off a round of 81, +9, and a 17th-place finish at the one-day Patriot Intercollegiate/Conference Preview event on October 5th. Dodson, who has turned in one sub-par round on the season, has a stroke average of 75.56 overall and has finished in the top-five twice this fall season.
Morgan is coming off her best collegiate round of golf with a 71, -1 under par, back on October 5th at The Patriot Intercollegiate/Conference Preview, as she won the 18-hole event. The senior has two top-12 finishes on the season and improved her stroke average to 79.56 over nine rounds of play.
Like Dodson, Bertram is a freshman that will be competing for GWU in her fifth event this fall season this week. Bertram posted a fourth-place finish last time out for GWU, as she carded a round of 74, +2, at The Patriot Intercollegiate/Conference Preview. Bertram has carded rounds of 75, 76 and 74 over her last three rounds of play and will look to continue to post some low scores in this week's event in Buies Creek, N.C.
Henderson will return to the GWU lineup for the first time since competing at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic back on September 30th & October 1st in which the freshman posted a three-round combined score of 243, +30. Henderson has played in three tournaments so far this fall season for GWU, posting a low round of 76 and a stroke average of 81 overall.
Donovan, who continues her streak of consecutive matches in the GWU lineup, is coming off a round of 83, +11, at The Patriot Intercollegiate/Conference Preview in which she finished at 21st-place overall. Donovan has carded rounds of 72, 73, 74 and 76 thus far this fall season and is will look to return to that form this week at the Fighting Camel Fall Classic Intercollegiate.
Last year at the Fighting Camel Fall Classic event, Donovan posted a 54-hole score of 245, +29, to finish in a tie at 47th-place, while Morgan turned in a three-round combined score of 251, +35, to finish in a tie at 50th overall.
The first and second rounds of the tournament will start with a shotgun at 8:45 a.m. on Monday morning and will consist of 36-holes of play throughout the day.
The final round of play will start with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning and will conclude with the Awards Ceremony at approximately 2 p.m.
