GWU's Denzel Clarke Tabbed the Big South Men's Soccer Player of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb forward Denzel Clarke has been tabbed the Choice Hotels Big South Men's Soccer Attacking Player of the Week for games played Oct. 14-20, the League announced today.
Clarke, a junior from Atlanta, Ga. notched four goals, including a hat trick at Presbyterian, to lead the Runnin' Bulldogs to a pair of League wins last week. Against PC on October 15th, he scored three goals in a span of five minutes in the second half to propel Gardner-Webb to the 6-1 win. He followed that performance with the game-winner in the 74th minute to give GWU the 2-1 win at VMI on October 19th.
Clarke's four goals last week pushed his season total to 12 on the year, which not only leads the Big South Conference, but also is tied for first-place overall nationally among all NCAA Division I men's soccer programs.
His 12 goals this season also set a new GWU Division I single season record for the most goals by a single player in one year since Gardner-Webb transitioned to the NCAA Division I level in 2000-01.
The honor marks his second Big South Attacking Player of the Year plaudit this season.
