Runnin' Bulldogs Finish 11th at the 2013 Fighting Camel Fall Classic

Buies Creek, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team took 11th-place overall at the 2013 Fighting Camel Fall Classic Intercollegiate hosted by the Campbell Fighting Camels at the par 72, 6,026 yards, Orange & Black Course at the Keith Hills Country Club in Buies Creek, N.C.
As a team, Gardner-Webb posted rounds of 328, 310 and 319 to finish with a combined three-round score of 957, +93.
Freshman Julia Henderson turned in her best 54-hole performance of her young GWU career over the two-days of play, as she shot rounds of 84, 73 and 77 to lead the Runnin' Bulldogs with a score of 234, +18, to finish in a tie for 31st overall. Henderson, who's second round 73, +1, was her lowest round at an intercollegiate event in her career, was in the top-five in birdies with seven and posted the second-best par-5 scoring average over the two-days of play with an 4.83, -2 under, average overall.
Fellow newcomers Sarah Bertram and Taylor Dodson finished in 48th and 50th, respectively, as Bertram recorded rounds of 79, 79 and 82 to finish with a 54-hole score of 240, +24, one stroke ahead of Dodson's score of 241, +25, with rounds of 82, 80 and 79.
Rounding out the scoring for GWU was sophomore Mary Katherine Donovan and senior Pilar Morgan. Donovan carded rounds of 89, 78 and 81 to finish with a combined score of 248, +32, and in 55th-place, while Morgan tallied rounds of 83, 93 and 90 to finish in 58th overall with her score of 266, +50.
The host institution in Campbell University took home the team championships, as the Fighting Camels turned in team rounds of 302, 290 and 295 to finish with a tournament low team score of 887, +23.
Old Dominion (897, +33), Mercer (907, +43), Western Carolina (909, +45) and High Point (918, +54) round out the top-five in the team leaderboard.
Mercer's Mary Alice Murphy (79, 73, 69), Old Dominion's Elizabeth Haycock (73, 75, 73) and Campbell's Kaylin Yost (73, 75, 73) all took home medalist honors with their combined scores of 221, +5, over the 54-hole event.
Gardner-Webb will wrap up its 2013 fall season in two weeks, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will take part in the Winthrop Intercollegiate hosted by Winthrop at the Rock Hill Country Club in Rock Hill, S.C. on November 2-3rd.
