Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team will return to the links this Saturday, October 5th, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will compete against three other Big South schools in Campbell, High Point and Radford at The Patriot Intercollegiate held at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor in Ninety Six, S.C.
The one-day quad match will be held at the home of the 2014 Big South Women's Golf Championship, the par 72, 6,162 yards Patriot Course designed by Davis Love III, at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor.
With the scoring format being different, as the team scores include all six players for each team, the Runnin' Bulldogs' squad lineup will consist of Taylor Dodson, Mary Katherine Donovan, Sarah Bertram, Pilar Morgan, Courtney Yanch and Tessy Tuschen.
Dodson, who is coming off her second straight top-five finish last time out, carded a combined 54-hole score of 216, +3, at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic, which included a sub-par round of 70, -1 under par. The freshman has paced the Runinn' Bulldogs in each of the last two events and has recorded a stroke average of 74.88 so far this fall season.
Donovan, who has played in all three tournaments so far this fall for the Runnin' Bulldogs, has turned in rounds of 72, 73 and 74 so far this season, however, the sophomore has been unable to put together back-to-back solid rounds for most of the season thus far. Donovan, who has posted a stroke average of 77.88 so far this fall, will look for a strong round on Saturday to get her back on track for the rest of the fall slate.
Bertram is coming off a three-round score of 236, +23, at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic last week, carded rounds of 75 and 76 over the final two rounds of play at the 54-hole event and will look to carry over that game to play this Saturday. The freshman, who has played in all three events for head coach Tee Burton so far this season, has carded a low round of 75 twice thus far and has totaled a stroke average of 78.5 over her eight rounds of play this fall.
Morgan, the lone upperclassman on the entire GWU women's golf roster, has been consistent for much of the fall season thus far, having posted a round of 81 four times overall. The senior has turned in a low round of 75 on the fall season and has posted a top-15 finish with her 11th-place showing at the Myrtle Beach National Intercollegiate.
Yanch will be competing in only her second tournament thus far in her first year at GWU, as the freshman from Barrie, Ontario, Canada, carded rounds of 84 and 87 to finish with a score of 171, +27, and in 36th-place overall at the Myrtle Beach National Intercollegiate back on September 23-24th.
Rounding out the six-person lineup for GWU on Saturday will be Tuschen, who like Yanch, will be playing in her second event this season. The sophomore posted rounds of 81 and 89 to finish in a tie for 34th-place overall with a two-round combined score of 170, +26, at the Myrtle Beach National Intercollegiate two weeks ago.
Morgan, Donovan and Tuschen have all played at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor before, as Morgan competed at the GWU/High Point Duals in 2010, 2011 and 2012, posting rounds of 91, 86 and 78 at those three one-day events.
Donovan, who has played four rounds of tournament play at The Patriot Golf Club, posted rounds of 78, 78 and 77 to finish in a tie at 23rd-place last spring at the 2013 Big South Women's Golf Championship after carding a round of 76, +4, to win at the GWU/High Point Duals in the fall of 2012.
Tuschen, who also competed at the 2012 GWU/High Point Duals carded a round of 89 in her only round at The Patriot in Ninety Six, S.C.
The one-day, 18-hole event, will tee off on Saturday at noon with a shotgun start. The men's team will also be competing at the course as well.
