
GWU's Morgan Wins The Patriot Intercollegiate, as GWU Finishes Tied for Second Overall

Ninety Six, S.C. - Gardner-Webb senior golfer Pilar Morgan carded a score of 71, 1 under par, on Saturday afternoon to take first-place individual honors at The Patriot Intercollegiate/Conference Preview at the par-72, 6,162 yards Patriot Golf Course at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor in Ninety Six, S.C.
The one-day, 18-hole event, included four Big South Conference schools in Campbell, High Point, Gardner-Webb and Radford.
GWU finished tied for second-place overall with a combined team score of 309, +21, with the High Point Panthers, as both teams finished 10 strokes behind the team winner in the Campbell Fighting Camels who posted a team-score of 299, +11.
Behind Morgan's 71, -1 under par, which gave her medalist honors, freshman Sarah Bertram posted a round of 74, +2, a career low round in her short time at GWU, to finish in a tie for fourth-place overall, while fellow freshman Taylor Dodson shot an 81, +9, to finish in a tie at 17th-place.
Sophomore Mary Katherine Donovan rounded out the scoring for GWU, as she posted a round of 83, +11, to place in 21st-place overall, while freshman Courtney Yanch finished the day with a round of 89, +17, to come in 23rd overall.
Playing as an individual at the event, sophomore Tessy Tuschen turned in a round of 84, +12, to finish in 22nd-place overall on the individual leaderboard.
Gardner-Webb will have a few weeks off before returning to competition on October 21-22 at the Fighting Camel Classic hosted by the Campbell Fighting Camels at the Keith Hills Country Club in Buies Creek, N.C.
