Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's golf team will conclude its 2013 fall tournament season this week, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will compete at the annual Hummingbird Intercollegiate hosted by Western Carolina in Sapphire, N.C.

This year's tournament has expanded to three rounds or 54-holes for the first time with 18 holes being played at the par-71, 6,767 yards, Country Club of Sapphire Valley on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, November 3-5.

The tournament field includes 56 golfers from 10 different teams in Appalachian State, Belmont, Cardinal Stritch, Colgate, Evansville, Gardner-Webb, Samford, Tennessee Tech, Western Carolina and Wofford.

At last year's Hummingbird Intercollegiate, the Runnin' Bulldogs picked up a fourth-place finish with rounds of 295 and 290 for a 36-hole combined team score of 585, +17. GWU had two players in Daniel Kim and Daley Byles finishes in a tie at second-place overall with combined two-round scores of 141, +1.

The Runnin' Bulldogs are coming off an 11th-place team finish at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate back on October 14-15th, as GWU posted rounds of 293, 292 and 284 for a combined team score of 869, +29.

GWU will send a familiar lineup to the three-day event, as Matt Yelverton, Blake Maum, Vincent Blanchette, Clement Kurniawan and Byles will make up the team for the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Yelverton, who has competed for the Runnin' Bulldogs at every event thus far this season, is coming off a 13th-place finish at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate with rounds of 71, 69 and 69 and a combined score of 209, -1 under par. The junior has posted five sub-par rounds of golf thus far this fall season and has registered a stroke average of 71.92 over GWU's five fall tournaments.

Since making his intercollegiate debut at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate back in mid-September, Maum has been a constant in the GWU lineup over the last four events. The freshman recorded rounds of 75, 71 and 71 his last time out and has turned in six straight rounds of 75 or lower over his last three events. Maum, who has a season-low round of 68, -4 under par, has recorded a stroke average of 74.11 thus far this fall season.

Blanchette, who has two sub-par rounds on the fall season, is coming off a solid outing at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate in which he shot rounds of 72, 74 and 73 to finish nine over at 219. The freshman has turned in a stroke average of 71.67 thus far this fall season over his six rounds of play.

Like Yelverton, Kurniawan is set to compete in his sixth event this fall season, as the sophomore has posted two top-12 finishes over GWU's five fall events. Kurniawan, who is coming off rounds of 71, 72 and 70 at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate, has three sub-par rounds and has recorded a stroke average of 74.08 this fall.

Rounding out the GWU lineup for the three-round event is Byles, as the redshirt-senior will look to duplicate his success from last year's Hummingbird Intercollegiate in which he finished in a tie for second-place overall at 141, -1 under par. Byles is coming off a 54-hole score of 224, +14, at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate last month which pushed his stroke average to 75.45 on the fall season.
