Gardner-Webb's Alex Young Earns Big South Weekly Honor

Charlotte, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) - Sophomore Alex Young has been tabbed as the Big South Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the League announced today.
Young, a sophomore from LaVergne, Tenn., swept the throwing events and posted a school record at the JDL Kickoff. His school-record mark of 55' 7.5" in the shot put was good for first-place. He also recorded the nation's eighth-best toss in the weight throw with a distance of 65' 6" to claim the top spot at the meet.
Young and the Runnin' Bulldogs compete at the Niswonger Invitational, held next week in Johnson City, Tenn.
