GWU Women Welcome Wofford Saturday Afternoon (4:30)
December 13, 2013 | Women's Basketball
The Runnin' Bulldogs (5-3) should be excited to step back onto their home court, after posting a 4-0 record and an average margin of victory of 20.8 ppg during four home games in November.
GWU dropped its first three road games, but bounced back for a 54-52 win at Presbyterian last week before the exam break.
Center Catrina Green (14.9 ppg, 9.9 rpg) has lived up to her preseason All-Big South projection, shooting a robust 65.8 percent from the floor and posting four of Gardner-Webb's six individual double-doubles so far this season - with three coming in Paul Porter Arena.
Sharpshooter Jasmine Dale (10.5 ppg) has made nearly half (20) of the team's 44 3-point baskets through eight games, and is shooting a solid 39.2 percent from long range. Forwards Jessica Heilig (8.5 ppg) and Olivia Parker (7.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg) have played well up front and guards Mayhana Dunovant (4.9 ppg, 5.1 apg) and Candace Brown (6.9 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.5 apg) have produced at a high level as well.
Parker has record a pair of double-doubles at home this season and Dunovant is averaging nearly 7.0 assists per game in Paul Porter Arena - with Gardner-Webb running to an average of 77.5 points per game this season at home.
Saturday's game will be the final home contest for GWU until January 2, and will air live on the Big South Network (bigsouthsports.com) and WGWG-FM (88.3 / wgwg.org). Jared Pankhurst will call the action live.
