
Runnin' Bulldogs Land Three on NCCSIA All-State Soccer Squad

HIGH POINT, N.C. - Gardner-Webb's Denzel Clarke and Ali Al-Gashamy earned first-team North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) All-State Honors Monday, and Marius Hammersmark earned a second-team spot, as selected by sports information professionals around the Old North State.
Clark (Atlanta, Ga. / Greater Atlanta Christian) was a first-team All-Big South Conference selection after pacing the nation in goals and goals per game in 2013. The junior standout still leads NCAA Division I in both categories, after posting 16 goals on the season - the top mark in Gardner-Webb's Division I history.
Clark also ranks No. 2 nationally in total points per game (1.89) and sixth in total points (34).
Al-Gashamy (Kristiansand, Norway) enjoyed a strong first season with the Runnin' Bulldogs, dishing off seven assists (0.41 per game) to rank among the league leaders in that category. A midfielder, Al-Gashamy also scored four goals, which ranked third on the team.
Al-Gashamy also earned first-team All-Big South Conference honors in 2013.
Hammersmark (Kristiansand, Norway) helped the Runnin' Bulldogs to five team shutouts in 2013 and was a clutch goal scorer as well. His five goals ranked second on the team and three of his tallies were game winners.
Gardner-Webb finished the season with a 9-8-1 mark and finished fourth in the Big South's regular season standings. Clark, Al-Gashamy and Hammersmark were among six GWU student-athletes to earn All-Big South honors in 2013.
