
Runnin' Bulldogs Sweep Brevard, 7-0, in Men's Tennis Action Friday Afternoon

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's tennis team won every match it took part in Friday afternoon, earning a 7-0 sweep of visiting Brevard College.
Gardner-Webb (3-3) picked up its third consecutive victory of the year, and did not drop a single set in singles action to the Tornadoes (0-2).
The Runnin' Bulldogs got off to a hot start in doubles play, as the pairing of Benjamin Kaszás and Brendan Dempsey took down Rory Northam and Richie Liell, 8-3 at the No. 3 position. GWU sealed the doubles point by winning at the No. 2 spot as Ernest Alberch and Nikita Zverkov defeated Stefano Giovanolli and David Taggart, 8-5. The 'Dogs completed the sweep of doubles play with Adam Knutsson-Sundblad and Matthew Parker earning the 8-7(4) win over Johannes Kloster and George Finch.
GWU kept the momentum rolling at the onset of singles action, as Parker blanked Liell, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 6 position, which was quickly followed at the No. 4 spot as Joao Poli blanked Giovanolli, 6-0, 6-0.
The overall match victory for the Runnin' Bulldogs was determined at the No. 2 position as Kaszás downed Taggart, 6-1, 6-0, followed by Jonathan Walker defeating Finch, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 5 spot, as well as straight-set wins at the No. 3 spot by Zverkov over Northam, 6-1, 6-2, and at the No. 1 spot by Roman Piftor over Kloster, 6-4, 6-2.
Gardner-Webb returns to action this upcoming Wednesday, hosting Charlotte. The match is slated for a start time of 2:30 p.m at the Webb Tennis Complex.
