
Jenny Lunde Named Big South Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) - Gardner-Webb junior Jenny Lunde (Olso, Norway) has been selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played March 11-17, it was announced today by the League office.
Lunde went 3-1 in singles play and 2-2 in doubles play last week. Playing at No. 3, she defeated Angelica Sidorenko 6-2, 6-1 to earn Gardner-Webb's lone point against Charleston Southern. In the match against Western Carolina, she topped Sara Ruiz Pajares 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (7-3). Lunde posted two wins in Gardner-Webb's 5-2 victory over ITA ranked No. 65 Appalachian State. She teamed with Erica White for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles and downed her No. 3 singles opponent, 7-6 (3), 6-3. The junior concluded her week with an 8-7 (6) doubles win over UNC Greensboro's tandem. This is Lunde's first Player of the Week honor this season.
Lunde and the Runnin' Bulldogs' women's tennis team continue Big South play at home this week, taking on the Bulldogs of UNC Asheville on Wednesday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m.
