Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team will look to post its fourth straight top-10 team finish of this spring season when the Runnin' Bulldogs return to the links this week to compete at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate hosted by Appalachian State on April 1-2 in Morganton, N.C.
The annual event will be held once again at the par-72 Donald Ross designed golf course at the Mimosa Hills Golf Course in Morganton, N.C. The event will also come on the heels of the University Cup, which was held on March 28th at the same course.
Gardner-Webb, who has had every tournament shortened thus far this spring due to rain, is coming off a ninth-place team finish last week at the one-day, 18-hole, Low Country Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford in Hilton Head, S.C.
Senior Meghan Allum has been the top GWU performer over the last two events having finished in a tie for third at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate and in a tie for fourth at the Low Country Intercollegiate. Last year Allum took ninth-place overall to help lead the Runnin' Bulldogs to a sixth-place team finish at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate.
Fellow lady golfers Sammy Vass, Hannah Hellyer, Lauren Smith and Pilar Morgan, who will be playing as an individual in this year's event, all competed last year at the Mimosa Hills event as both Vass and Hellyer finished in the top-25 overall in last year's tournament.
Joining the lineup of Allum, Vass, Hellyer and Smith this week will be freshman Mary Katherine Donovan who has played in all three events this spring for the Runnin' Bulldogs in her first year at GWU.
