Gardner-Webb's Gray Jones Named to SoCon All-Freshman Team

Spartanburg, S.C. - Gardner-Webb freshman Gray Jones was named to the 2012-13 Southern Conference Wrestling All-Freshman Team, it was announced by the League office on Wednesday.
Jones, a freshman from Kingsland, Ga., suited up for the Runnin' Bulldogs all season long at 184 pounds, finding himself in the lineup throughout the year. Jones posted a record of 16-12 overall on the season and was 10-7 in dual match competition on the year, including registering four wins in Southern Conference action.
On the year, Jones tallied a pin fall win over David Kieta of Limestone and a major decision victory over Zach Bennett of The Citadel. He also posted two sudden victory wins and took second-place overall at The Citadel Open to start the season in November.
Jones and Gardner-Webb will compete this Saturday, March 9th, at the 79th Annual Southern Conference Wrestling Championship hosted by VMI in Lexington, Va. The Championship is slated for a 9 a.m. start.
