Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb wrestling team will travel to Lexington, Va. to compete at the 79th Annual Southern Conference Wrestling Championship hosted by the Virginia Military Institute on Saturday, March 9th.

Gardner-Webb (4-13, 2-5 SoCon) will have 10 grapplers compete, one at each weight class, with a chance to earn an automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA National Championships.

The Runnin' Bulldogs will have three youngers suit up at the lower weight classes in freshman Cortez Starkes (125), redshirt-sophomore Robbie Golde (133) and sophomore Davante Andujar (141), while a trio of redshirt-seniors will be competing in the middle weights in Ryan Medved (149), Alex Medved (157) and Justin Guthrie (165).

A tandem of freshman in Hunter Gamble and Gray Jones are slated to represent the Runnin' Bulldogs at 174 and 184 pounds, while redshirt-seniors Blake Salyer (197) and Travis Porter (285) will look to end their GWU wrestling careers on a high note at the conference championships.

The SoCon Championship is slated to start at 9 a.m.
