Spartanburg, S.C. - Redshirt-junior Daley Byles and sophomore Matt Yelverton each posted top-20 finishes to help lead the Gardner-Webb men's golf team to a 10th-place team finish at the Coca-Cola Invitational hosted by Wofford College at the Spartanburg Country Club in Spartanburg, S.C.

Gardner-Webb totaled team scores of 298, 282 and 304 to finish the two-day event in 10th-place overall with a combined team score of 884, +20.

Byles, who carded a GWU low round of 68, -4 under par, in round two of play on Monday afternoon, posted a first round 74, +2, and a third round 75, +3, to finish in a tie at 16th-place overall with his three-round combined score of 217, +1. The lefty led GWU with 37 pars overall and recorded a team-best 4.33, -8 under par, scoring average on the week on the par 5 holes.

Yelverton, who finished in a tie for 20th-place overall, recorded rounds of 74, 69 and 75 to finish one stroked behind Byles at 218, +2, for the three-round event. The sophomore had a team-high 12 birdies over the 54-hole event on Monday and Tuesday.

GWU's Steven Jones, who tallied two eagles at the tournament, turned in rounds of 75, 73 and 77 to finish in a tie for 56th-place overall with his score of 225, +9, while senior Daniel Kim and freshman Clement Kurniawan rounded out the scoring for the Runnin' Bulldogs with scores of 229, +13, and 235, +19, respectively.

East Tennessee State took first-place overall with a team score of 853, -11 under par, while the host Wofford College finished in second-place with their team score of 855, -9 under par.

Radford (861, -3 under), Appalachian State (862, -4 under) and Elon (862, -4 under) rounded out the top-five teams in the team standings.

With GWU's 10th-place finish, the Runnin' Bulldogs finished ahead of Furman, Charleston Southern, Western Carolina, High Point, Longwood and Stetson.

Gardner-Webb will now set its sights on the 2013 Big South Conference Men's Golf Championship which will be held next week, April 21-23, at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, S.C.
