GWU's Sammy Vass Named to the Big South Women's Golf All-Academic Team

Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb senior Sammy Vass was named to the 2013 Big South Women's Golf All-Academic Team, it was announced Monday night at the Awards Banquet at the 2013 Big South Women's Golf Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting in Ninety Six, S.C.
Vass, who has a 3.2980 cumulative grade point average during her three years at Gardner-Webb, transferred to GWU in 2010-11 after spending her first year of college at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Fla.
The Marketing major has played in all 11 golf tournaments this season for the Runnin' Bulldogs, including this week's 2013 Big South Women's Golf Championship, and has posted four top-20 finishes in 2012-13, including a 12th-place finish at the GWU vs. HPU Duals.
In her three years as a member of the Runnin' Bulldogs' women's golf team, Vass has competed in 31 tournaments and has totaled five top-10 finishes, highlighted by second-place showings at both the Winthrop University Intercollegiate and the St. Augustine Surf and Turf last year.
Vass and the Runnin' Bulldogs currently sit in third-place overall in the team standings heading into the final round of play at the 2013 Big South Women's Golf Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting tomorrow morning beginning at 8 a.m. at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, S.C.
