Boiling Springs, N.C. - Gardner-Webb women's basketball head coach Rick Reeves is pleased to announce the signing of Bianca Andre' (Lewisburg, WV./Greenbrier East H.S.) to a National Letter of Intent to continue both her academic and athletic careers at Gardner-Webb University beginning in the Fall of 2013.
"We think Bianca is one of the top players in the state of West Virginia," Reeves commented. "She has outstanding basketball skills and is one of the best shooters I have seen this year at the high school level. Her shooting will bring another dimension to our offensive schemes. But she is more than just a great shooter, as she is a great passer that thinks and plays the game like a Larry Bird."
Andre' comes to GWU from Greenbrier East High School in Lewisburg, West Virginia, where she was the leading scorer on her team last year as a senior averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds per game while leading her Spartans' squad to a 25-0 overall regular season record, the first undefeated season in Greenbrier East High School's history.
The two-time West Virginia AAA First-Team All-State selection and a West Virginia AAA Second-Team All-State honoree her sophomore season averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds her junior season and was a key member of the Greenbrier East team that won the State Championship Tournament.
Named to the MSAC Championship Tournament Team as both a junior and sophomore, and to the State Championship All-Tournament Team her junior season, Andre' amassed over 1,800 points in her high school career, averaging over 19 points per game.
Andre' was twice nominated as the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of West Virginia after beginning her career at Knoxville Catholic High School in Tennessee where she averaged 17 points per game and was named to the Tennessee 4-AAA First-Team All-District Team as a freshman.
Andre', who recently placed first in the Academic Competition "SCORES" in the Marketing Division as a senior, was also a member of the Tennessee Team Hustle AAU Team that was crowned the Runner-Up at the AAU National Championships back in 2009-10.
Andre' joins a group of highly touted signees in Christina McQueen (Findlay, Ohio), Kiera Currie (Romeoville, Illinois) and Tierra Huntsman (Connersville, Indiana) as part of the 2013 signing class that will join a GWU roster that returns the entire active roster from the 2012-13 season.
