
GWU's Kyle Ash Competes at the 2013 Las Vegas/ASICS U.S. Open on Friday

Las Vegas, Nevada - Gardner-Webb freshman grappler Kyle Ash competed at the 2013 Las Vegas/ASICS U.S. Open Wrestling National Championships on Friday, April 19th, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ash, who completed at 74 KG or 163 pounds in the freestyle event, posted a first round win over Zachary Skates of OKCU Gator RTC by of a pin at 0:21 in the second period to advance to the second round of the championship bracket where Ash defeated Jesse Stafford of Rocky Mountain Regional Training 1-1, 1-1 to secure a place in the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals match of the championship bracket, Ash was handed his first loss of the day when he loss to Ryan Watts of the Michigan Wrestling Club 3-0, 3-2 to fall into the consolation bracket. There, Bryce Busler of Husky Wrestling Club defeated Ash 5-3, 3-0 to end the freshman's day at 2-2 overall.
