GWU's Mosley, Trott, Gamble and Cornwell Take Part at the 2013 ASICS (FILA) Junior Freestyle National Championships

Las Vegas, Nevada - One day after competing at the 2013 ASICS (FILA) Junior Greco-Roman National Championships, Gardner-Webb freshmen Ryan Mosley, Austin Trott, Hunter Gamble and Boyce Cornwell suited up to take part of the 2013 ASICS (FILA) Junior Freestyle National Championships on Saturday afternoon at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The event, which was formerly known as the FILA Junior National Championships, has been in existence for each of the last 23 years and is open wrestlers ages 17-20.
At 66 KG or 145.5 pounds, Mosley recorded a first round win over Ridvan Bekirov of OTC 3-3, 3-0 to take on Jared Reis of NWRTC in the second round of the championship bracket. There, Mosley suffered a loss in three periods, 1-2, 2-0, 3-0, to fall into the consolation bracket where he posted wins three wins in a row.
In the consolation bracket, the freshman defeated Christian Franks of San Francisco Peninsula Grapplers 2-1, 3-1 to move on to earn a 1-0, 3-0 win over Tom Keanu of Team SoCal and stay alive. Mosley then posted a 4-1, 2-2 win against Josh Bennett of Team Missouri Select to advance into the fifth round of the consolation bracket where he was handed a loss by way of a fall to Cohl Fulk of Wolfpack Wrestling to end his day at 4-2 overall at 66 KG.
Trott, competed at 74 KG or 163 pounds on Saturday afternoon, suffered a first round loss to Cooper Moore of Panther Wrestling Club 6-0, 4-1, to fall into the consolation bracket where the GWU freshman would post two straight wins.
After a first round bye in the consolations, Trott defeated Alexander Graham of Vandit by way of a technical fall at 6-0, 7-0, to move on to take on Jacob Marks of NYAC-Harlem. Trott went on to record a second straight technical fall win, this time at 6-0, 6-0, over Marks to stay alive and advance to the fourth round of the consolation bracket. His day would end there, however, as Adam Fierro of Dave Schultz Wrestling defeated Trott 5-2, 2-0, to put Trott at 2-2 on the day. Fierro went on to take eighth-place overall at 74 KG.
Gamble, who suited up to complete at 79 KG or 174 pounds, suffered a 0-1, 1-0, 2-0 first round loss to Scott Reilly of Rocky Mountain Region Training to get knocked down into the consolation bracket where he fell in the first round to Austin Coburn of HRWA/VBRTC 2-0, 0-3, 1-0 to see his day end at 0-2. Coburn went on to take eighth-place overall at 79 KG.
Like Gamble, Cornwell went 0-2 on the day at 96 KG or 211.15 pounds, as the fellow freshman was pinned in the first round of the championship bracket by Patrick Gillen of Cavalier Wrestling Club to fall into the consolation bracket where he loss to Frank Mattiace of Blair Academy 7-3, 3-6, 1-1.
